I’m Susie, the artist and maker behind Oak & Arbor.
My creative work has always been connected to my love of people, meaningful experiences, and thoughtful details. Long before Oak & Arbor, much of my career was spent creating experiences that brought people together. I worked in the summer camp world, where I discovered the power of community, creativity, and creating moments that people remember long after they’re over.
For nearly a decade, I brought that same passion to my work in Pre-College Programs at Carnegie Mellon University, helping create meaningful experiences for young people. I also hold a Master’s degree in Management from Carnegie Mellon University, where I graduated with highest distinction, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I also had the good fortune to participate in a business accelerator program specifically designed for creative businesses (First Leap) in Pittsburgh, PA.
Today, Oak & Arbor gives me a different way to bring those interests together. I get to combine my background in design, creativity, and thoughtful experiences with my love of paper and making things by hand.
I design and create each piece in my studio, from the first idea to the finished product. I’m drawn to beautiful papers, natural textures, thoughtful details, and designs that feel unique and personal. Whether it’s a card sent to someone you love, a personalized gift, or a piece of artwork created to celebrate a child, I want each Oak & Arbor piece to help make a moment feel a little more special.
